Watched “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” last night, and really enjoyed it. It was a sprawling, classic Star Wars epic that you’d expect. that said, I really respect how the film dared to defy Hollywood convention of a shiny happy ending, especially during a holiday release. In some ways, “Rogue One” was almost akin to a 1930’s Soviet film, ultimately ending in tragedy where all of our heroes die, even the droid. And enjoyed various nuances of the film, especially how scenes were bridged (i.e. the dogfights in the air would swoop down, and visually drop us off to the battles on the ground, and vice versa). Disney’s definitely following through on their investment.
